Brock Lesnar's return to the UFC was a short one.

The former heavyweight champion was a shock addition to the UFC 200 card, where he fought New Zealand's Mark Hunt. Lesnar, over four-and-a-half years after his previous bout won the fight by unanimous decision.

A week after the fight, Lesnar was notified of a potential anti-doping violation, from a sample given in the buildup to the Hunt bout. The WWE superstar test positive for the estrogen blocker clomiphene in a further sample that was taken after the fight.

On Wednesday, the United States Anti-Doping Association (USADA) announced that Lesnar was to be suspended for a year, due to the multiple violations. He will be allowed to return to action on July 15th later this year.

The 39-year-old was also suspended for a year by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and was fined $250,000.

Lesnar's opponent Mark Hunt is threatening to sue the UFC over the handling of the situation. He has not fought since facing Lesnar. The result was overturned to a no-contest, and Hunt is seeking compensation for facing an opponent, who had tested positive.

Despite the ban, Lesnar is still free to compete in the WWE. He will be a participant in the Royal Rumble event later this month on January 29th.
