Bríd Stack has confirmed her return to the AFLW this season with the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

The 11-time All-Ireland football winner with Cork endured a difficult first season in Australian Rules Football, suffering a neck injury during her opening pre-season game with the club, which ultimately ruled her out for the entire season.

Her injury also became a major talking point in the sport, after Ebony Marinoff was suspended for three games for the tackle, which was eventually overturned on appeal.

Speaking to OTB Sports earlier this summer, Stack said she was still considering whether or not to return to Sydney for another crack at professional sport, despite her club announcing she had re-signed

However in a lengthy interview with the Irish Examiner's Christy O'Connor today, Stack said her return to the league is now official, and she will be returning to Australia for pre-season next month.

"I took everyone’s thoughts and feelings into consideration but at the end of it all, I had to make that decision for myself," she says.

"I wanted to go back and give it one more shot. And I have everyone’s blessing now.

"The biggest thing for me is to enjoy it and embrace it and be present in it and not be always chasing it like I was last year. And I really want to enjoy the whole experience with the two lads."

Stack will once again team up with Mayo legend Cora Staunton at the Giants, among 14 Irish players confirmed to play in the latest season of the AFLW.
