Brian Cody saw his Kilkenny side narrowly beat Clare yesterday afternoon in an intense, hard fought battle at Cusack Park in Ennis. Although the win puts Kilkenny in the frame for semi-final qualification it was the manner of his side’s mentality that left Cody most satisfied in the aftermath of the game.
Following the final whistle, Cody told Newstalk’s Oisín Langan it was the attitude and mentality which he was keen on seeing at this stage of the year, rather than perfect playing technique. He was also pleased with the attitude and commitment shown by young players such as Ger Aylward and Lester Ryan, and the valuable experience gained by playing in a game of near championship intensity.
“It gives confidence to all the players, especially the younger players.
“It’s a terrific challenge for us coming down here today and we’re very happy going home.
