Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers has said this morning that he has offered Steven Gerrard a new contract.

The 34 year old, who's current deal comes to an end in May, earlier hinted that he has no plans to retire and would leave the club if not offered an extension.

According to BBC Sport, Rogers has denied that money would be an issue, and would like to see him extend his time at Liverpool:

"I love working with Steven Gerrard. I've enjoyed every single minute. I hope that continues."

Rogers also denied rumours of a growing rift between himself and the captain, responding to one such claim at a press conference with "No, 150% no."

The manager has felt increasing pressure on his position, with Liverpool currently standing at 11th in the table and 3rd in their Champions League group. They require a win against Basel to qualify for the knockout stages.
