Only four games into the season and there have to be major doubts that Chelsea can defend the title they claimed so confidently last season.

But is it just a case of the club getting up to speed after an indifferent problem or are there deeper issues at play?

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin joined Off The Ball as always on a Monday and suggested that there are plenty of issues to resolve.

"There are bigger, deeper problems. Somebody who's going and watching football for two weeks now could tell you the problems with Ivanovic and they're big problems and I don't know how you sort them out," said Pat, before adding of the Serbian defender, "He knows his pace is gone but the problem is everyone else does as well."

Pat also admitted that Chelsea's star player from last season has been "poor" and that the previous weaknesses that the Belgian had in his early Blues career seems to be resurfacing.

Pat also tipped Manchester United's conquerors Swansea for a place in the Premier League Top 6 based on the talents at their disposal and their performances so far.
