Grenoble head coach Bernard Jackman feels Ireland's performance at Twickenham on Saturday was "brave" but that in the end they were "overpowered" in the 21-10 defeat.
The former Leinster player and The Irish Times' Gavin Cummiskey reflected on the Six Nations match defeat which ends any hopes of a three-in-a-row, and Bernard shared his overall take on the Irish performance on Off The Ball.
"I think it was brave," he said, "but I felt we were overpowered and we hung in there. We nearly had a try from Robbie [Henshaw], we nearly had a try from Josh van der Flier. But I felt there were too many areas that didn't function to be able to take too many positives out of. I think that unfortunately at the moment we're trying to play the power game without the power athletes."
Jackman highlighted England's Billy Vunipola physical contribution.
"Vunipola was outstanding. It was a man against boys," he said, adding that a "lack of bulk and power" rather than trying to exploit space makes it harder to win in a collision-based approach.
