Gareth Bale is likely to be the scapegoat for the Madrid media after Real were dumped out of the Champions League semi-finals by Juventus to prevent a first ever El Clasico final.

But Off The Ball's European football reviewer Ben Lyttleton says the focus should move from the current bête noire and towards Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to de-constructing the second half performance.

"I was quite surprised in the second half that they created so little really and while Gareth Bale will dominate the headlines because he missed quite a lot of chances, how quiet was Ronaldo in the second half? If you want your key players to be the guys who make the difference, Ronaldo disappeared," he said.

As for Carlo Ancelotti's future, Ben added: "I think he's gone. It's just the way they do things at Real Madrid."

Ben also feels it will be an interesting final given that the world has been spared a Messi vs Ronaldo build-up to Berlin, as Juventus play the underdog role on June 6th.
