Broadcaster Craig Sager, whose colourful suits and lovable personality charmed millions of basketball fans, has died aged 65.

Sager, who had a highly-publicised battle with leukaemia, died on Thursday, over two years after being diagnosed with the disease.

On of the most recognisable faces in the NBA, Sager was a sideline reporter for TNT and regularly spoke to the league's biggest players and managers.

Steve Kerr, head coach of the Golden State Warriors, who worked with Sager at TNT led the tributes to his former colleague ahead of the Warriors win against the New York Knicks.

Sager was only inducted into Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame on Tuesday, but was unable to collect the award in person.

Earlier this year, Sager worked at his first ever NBA Finals broadcast this year when rival broadcasters ABC and ESPN hired him for Game 6 of the Golden State Warriors-Cleveland Cavaliers matchup. Fittingly it was to be his last broadcast.
