Pre-match entertainment in football grounds around the country can be pretty boring.

The same songs get played week after week, from EuroPop classics to songs that might have a certain meaning to specific clubs. Maybe more football grounds should play some operatic music before games?

Last weekend, Cliftonville played Irish League rivals Glenavon in Belfast. The Solitude crowd were treated to an impromptu rendition of Nessum Dorma from tenor David Lynn. The performance was organised by BBC Radio Ulster to promote the Belfast International Arts Festival.

The iconic song, which was given a new lease of life at Italia '90, failed to get a match winning performance from either side as the game finished 1-1.

Surely some League of Ireland clubs next season should try the venture as the crowd seemed to enjoy the performance. Who wouldn't want to see O Sole Mio performed before a game in Dalymount Park?
