David Beckham has signed for Paris saint Germain until the end of the season. The former England international was unveiled at a press conference in Paris this evening, after passing routine medical tests earlier this afternoon.

The former Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester United midfielder has been without a club since the MLS season finished in early December and his contract with the LA Galaxy expired.

The 37 year old had been linked with a move to the French capital one year ago but had remained in Los Angeles. earlier this week he had been training with Arsenal, although the London club had made it clear they were not looking into signing the former England captain.

"David received a lot of offers from clubs around the world and that makes it very special for us," says PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. "He's going to be with us and our project to become one of the best clubs in Europe."

Beckham has revealed that his family will be based in London during his stint with PSG and said: ''It's something we've been working on and talking about for quite a while."

French manager Dider Deschamps told the AFP "He's a player whose personality goes beyond football like Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It gives a greater visibilility to our championship internationally."
