If you've ever been hit anywhere with a baseball or even just held one, you'll know how hard they are.

To get one in the face would surely be excruciating and Hunter Pence has first-hand knowledge of that now after taking one flush in the cheek against the Washington Nationals.

As he took aim at a pitch, he swung and hit the ball before it bounced off home base and back up to nail him square in the kisser, giving him an instant black eye.

It generally takes at while before swelling starts to show, but Pence's face immediately balloons up. 

After the French gymnast who shattered his leg and was bundled into an ambulance, now this, the lesson we have learned over the weekend is never, ever play sports.
