Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood believes they would have been challenging for the Premier League title this season if they had been able to keep Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.
Both players were sold to Spanish giants Real Madrid in consecutive summers and played a key role in helping them lift the Copa Del Rey last night.
Modric has been in scintillating form in Real Madrid's midfield after a difficult debut campaign, while Bale was the match-winner last night with a superb solo goal.
Sherwood admitted players like Bale are not easy to replace.
"We saw what he did last year, scoring 21 goals for Tottenham and getting nine assists. He also scored the winner in eight of our games. We could do with them now, by the way," said the under-pressure head coach.
