Ireland have beaten Bangladesh in their final World Cup warm-up match this morning.

A top knock of 63no from Andrew Balbirnie led Phil Simmons' side to a four-wicket victory, which included three wickets apiece for Max Sorensen and John Mooney in Sydney, following on from Tuesday's deflating 179-run hammering by Scotland.

Ireland now travel to New Zealand where they get their World Cup campaign under way when they play the West Indies on Monday at 10am local time (Sunday night at 10 o'clock in Ireland).

"We kinda had a poor day two days ago and we needed to put it right before the tournament starts," said Balbirnie. "We did that today.

"Everyone bowled particularly well. I just had a gameplan when I went in and I wanted to score."

Of the Scotland setback, Balbirnie added: "That was as bad a performance as we've put in since I've been involved.

"To come back like that with such a win with such confidence in all facets of the game really gives us confidence going into Monday."
