Women's sixth seed Petra Kvitova was the biggest name to fall on day three of the Australian Open.

The two-time Wimbledon champion was beaten in straight sets by Australian Daria Gavrilova losing 6-4, 6-4.

However, there were no problems for Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Agnieszka Radwanska, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfied Tsonga, who are all safely through to the third round.

Meanwhile, Venus Williams was fined for skipping her post-match press conference after her shock first round loss to Britain's Johanna Konta yesterday.

The US tennis star has to pay a record $5,000, which is the most that a women's player has had to pay for that transgression.
