Tottenham Hotspur have launched an investigaton after their defender Serge Aurier appeared to break physical distancing rules for a third time.

The right-back posted photographs on social media website Instagram on Tuesday night showing off his fresh trim and tagging his barber Justin Carr in the post.

He wrote, with a series of emojis, "Yes Sir @justscuts #LeCoiffeurEstBon??"

A short statement from the Premier League club read: "We are investigating the circumstances and will deal with the incident appropriately."

Current UK government guidelines to help reduce the transmission of coronavirus state:

"You should stay alert when you leave home: washing your hands regularly, maintaining social distancing, and ensuring you do not gather in groups of more than two, except with members of your household or for other specific exceptions set out in law."

This his not the first time that Aurier has landed himself in hot water while restrictions are in place during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ivory Coast international has been forced to apologise on two previous occasions for lockdown breaches.

Last month he was training with Tottenham team-mate Moussa Sissoko and posted a video of himself running shuttles while disregarding social distancing.

Before that the defender was spotted out running with a friend.

Premier Legaue clubs have returned to training this week but only non-contact and, as Manchester United defender Luke Shaw revealed, players arrive in their training and shower when they get home.

So far there have been six positive tests for COVID-19 in the Premier League with Burnley going public first to say that their assistant manager Ian Woan tested positive and is now self-isolating.

It was revealed today that one player and two memebers of staff at Watford had also returned positive tests.

The Premier League is hoping that matches can restart some time around mid-June.
