As in they have a young squad but little is expected of them (think Clare the season before last).
However they do expect a lot within the group and, with the exception of a slip up against Tipperary on opening night, they have a perfect record so far beating both Galway and Dublin.
The next test will be the toughest as they travel to Ennis and meet All Ireland champions Clare who put 4 goals past Tipperary yesterday in Thurles.
Fitzgibbon cup winner Pauric Mahony scored 1-8 for the Deise yesterday in their 1-13 to 1-10 win over Dublin but most impressive of all was that they won with only 14 men for the bulk of the game after experienced centre back Michael Walsh was sent off.
Former All Star and current Waterford selector Dan Shanahan spoke to WLRFM reporter Míchéal Ó Drisleáin about the win and the work they are doing to put the Deise back in contention for honors.
