In case you didn't know he's the 25 year old Dubliner who scored for Aberdeen in their 2-1 win over Celtic at Pittodrie in the Scottish Premiership.
 
Rooney's meandering career so far, starting cross channel with Stoke then going on loan to Yeovil, Chesterfield and Bury before a permanent move to Inverness where he played with Richie Foran.

That was followed by spells at Birmingham, Swindon, Oldham and then finally move Aberdeen last month.
 
Goals have generally followed, he scored 4 in 16 league appearances for Oldham, 9 in in 18 for Swindon and 44 for Inverness.
 
Adding last nights stroke against Celtic he's already scored 5 times for his new club since joining last month, helping them to second in the table granted 21 points behind Celtic.
 
The Scots have gone stat crazy for Rooney confirming this morning that he's become the first player to score in each of his first four league matches for Aberdeen since Jock Pattillo in 1939
 
Rooney's fellow Irishman, 26 year old Jonny Hayes, has also traveled far and wide featuring for Reading, Forest Green, Leicster, MK Dons, Northampton, Cheltenham and Inverness.
 
The Dubliner has scored 5 goals in 30 appearances this season which is not a bad return for a midfielder.
 
Both men came in for praise form their manager Derek McInnes following last nights victory against Celtic, a win which has denied Neil Lennon's men the chance to go through the league season unbeaten.
  
Hayes and Rooney aren't the only Irishmen who come for praise from the boss with Niall Mc Ginn of Northern Ireland and formally of Dungannon, Derry  and Celtic setting up one of the goals.
