The SSE Airtricity league kicks off this Friday night with Sligo Rovers starting as one of the favourites.

The Bit O Red start their campaign on Saturday night against Athlone Town at the Showgrounds and are hoping to start well following an injury induced fade which cost them last year. They did however go on to win the Cup.

Peers who's entering his ninth season at the club will miss the first half of the season but is still playing an active role in their day to day routine. The former Mansfield and Blackburn defender spoke to me about their chances this season and the league at large.
