Ireland coach Joe Schmidt says he could not have asked for more effort from his players during yesterdays 24-22 loss to New Zealand yesterday, Ireland led by 19 -0 at one stage in that game.
The hosts led 22-7 at half time but as expected the World Champions rallied while denying Ireland any points in the second half although Johnny Sexton did have penalty attempt which he failed to score.
Schmidt says circumstances meant they just couldn't hang on towards the end.
