Jose Mourinho has had a pop at Manuel Pellegrini's comments that Chelsea are still big spenders.

In response to Mourinho saying his side were a "little horse" in the race for the Premier League title, the Manchester City boss had quipped that they were a "very rich" horse.

Pellegrini is a qualified engineer outside of football and using that fact, Mourinho claimed he cannot understand why the City manager did not do the maths about Chelsea's spending...

Mourinho's evident disdain for Pellegrini pre-dates this season. The self-styled Special One was Pellegrini's successor at Real Madrid and made mocking remarks about the Chilean's decision to move to Malaga after being sacked by Real Madrid.

"If Madrid were to fire me, I wouldn’t go to Malaga. I’d go to a top-level team in Italy or England," said Mourinho at the time.
