Ireland midfielder James McCarthy has shared his delight at working with new manager Martin O'Neill.

The Everton player gave an insight into the former Celtic, Aston Villa and Sunderland manager's style behind the scenes.

"Obviously, he comes across sometimes as having a joke but to be honest, when he's on the pitch he's serious and when it's time to get down to work, he's serious," said McCarthy of O'Neill.

Ireland take on Serbia tomorrow night in O'Neill's third game in charge of the Boys in Green.
