Daryl Murphy scored 9 goals in 33 games for Ipswich this season and is back in the squad for the first time in nearly six years ahead of tonight’s clash with Serbia at the Aviva.
The 30 year old Waterfordian who had spells at Sunderland and Celtic has settled at Portman Road following a tough few seasons, which saw him move from an up-front position to the left wing and back again.
Murphy says age has made him wiser and better and now that he’s back in the squad for the first time since 2008 he wants to take his chance and add to his 9 caps.
Earlier this week and just after he scored the winner for his club against Birmingham he chatted to me at the FAI awards.
