On the day Aston Villa appointed Remi Garde as their new manager, the Premier League's bottom of the table club lost a seventh top flight game in a row.

The Frenchman watched from the stands in his side's 3-1 defeat to a Tottenham side, who have not lost in the league since the opening day of the season.

Spurs are up to fifth in the table, one point outside the top four.

The London side held a 2-0 lead by half-time thanks to goals from Moussa Dembele and youngster Dele Alli just before the break.

Villa did pull one back through Jordan Ayew ten minutes from time, but Harry Kane curled in a fine third for Spurs at the death to end the game as a contest.
