Arsene Wenger has described his Arsenal side's defending against Monaco as "suicidal".

The Gunners manager reacted to his team's abject performance in the 3-1 defeat to the French side, as they were caught on the counter-attack by a side that scored just four goals in the Champions League group stages.

"We had the chances that we didn't take and we were suicidal defensively because we weren opened on the second and the third goal," said Wenger in his post-match press conference.

Arsenal must now score three goals in the second leg in Monte Carlo to have any chance of progressing to the quarter-finals for the first time since 2010.
