Scotland are on the up and Ireland find themselves on shaky ground with an unfamiliar team. Weekend two of the Six Nations saw the Scots hammer an Italian side coming off a historic win over France and Ireland fall apart against England, following their own famous win against Wales.

Former Lions and Scotland scrum half Andy Nicol spoke with Newstalk Breakfast’s Oisin Langan this morning about how the Scots are viewing the Irish challenge, how Scotland will deal with the absence of Euan Murray – the Scotland front row who won’t play on Sundays due to religious beliefs – and the challenge Paddy Jackson faces in Edinburgh.

Nicol played in Ronan O’Gara’s Ireland and recalls that for the first twenty minutes he “had a shocker” but soon turned it around. Nicol warns Jackson can expect to be targeted as the Scots look to test if he has ability and mentality to cut it at international level.
