Simon Cowell says he had 'great times' on American Idol, after it was announced that the series has been cancelled.
Simon sat on the original judging panel - and he says he had a blast alongside Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and host Ryan Seacrest.
"We had a blast! Me, Paula, Randy, Ryan – and not forgetting Brian. Thanks to the fans we were able to make some great shows and found some amazing artists" he told People magazine.
"Fox took a risk on a brand new show and I want to thank them for giving us the opportunity. They really were great times", he added.
It is rumoured that Cowell might return for the final season next year.
American Idol was based on the same format as the original Pop Idol in Britain, and began airing in 2002.
Winners chosen by viewers include Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks.
It has also seen many changes to its judging panel - including guest judges like Quentin Tarantino, Olivia Newton-John, Katy Perry and season eight runner up, Adam Lambert.
