West Ham United manger Sam Allardyce says the club are making it a priority to sign Andy Carroll on a permanent basis.
The Liverpool striker spent the second half of the season on loan at Upton Park, scoring seven league goals and getting four assists in 24 appearances, as well as striking up a good partnership with friend and team-mate Kevin Nolan.
The former Newcastle striker's future at Anfield is shrouded in doubt and with possible interest from the Magpies, West Ham will hope to act quickly and secure his signature.
Liverpool signed Carroll for £35 million in January 2011 and regardless of where he ends up, they are likely to take a big hit financially.
