Pineau De Re has taken a surprise win at an incident packed Grand National at Aintree. The 11 year old, trained by Richard Newland and ridden by Leighton Aspell, was a 25-1 winner.
Balthazar King came in second place at 14/1, while Double Seven at 10/1 and 33/1 shot Alvarado were third and fourth respectively.
Pre-race favourite Teaforthree fell at The Chair.

Just 18 of the 40 horses who ran completed the course, however for the second year running the race was without any injury to a horse. There were no major jockey injuries.
