Derry went down to 14 men but still emerged victorious from their Allianz League semi-final tie with Mayo, at Croke Park this afternoon.

The Ulstermen won 2-15 to 1-16 as mayo failed to find an answer to the conundrum of playing with a man advantage following midfielder Fergal Doherty’s early dismissal.

Derry were behind by a point with just 5 minutes left but a flurry of points saw the Foylesiders get ahead of James Horan’s men by the final whistle.
