December 26, the Day of the Wren will be marked, as it always is, on St Stephen’s Day. Wearing straw costumes, people will parade through towns and villages - particularly Dingle - and engage in a tradition with long roots stretching back. But what does ‘hunting the Wren’ mean, and is the tradition on the wane?

Donal Fallon spoke to Gavan Reilly about this old Irish tradition.
