The stepping down of Jim Gavin yesterday was a historic moment in the history of Gaelic football, and called to mind previous titans. In the 1970s and 80s, Gaelic football was dominated by the clash of two legendary managers, and former players, who went head to head. One brought Gaelic Football to unprecedented popularity in a city where it had been largely ignored before, while the other is considered the greatest manager in the history of the game.

Donal Fallon spoke to Gavan Reilly about this historical moment in GAA’s history.
