The Government will ban service charges on restaurant bills unless the money goes straight to servers.  The idea is to prevent employers from using tips to make up wages and to introduce clarity about how tips and service charges are shared. Henry McKean visited Drogheda and got reaction from restaurant managers, servers and customers and sent us this report. The Payment of Wages Bill is making its way through the Oireachtas. All restaurants Henry spoke to give the tips to their staff and don't keep them.
