If your second name is Power or Fitz...you more than likely descend from the Normans and this weekend is the 850th anniversary of the Normans invading Ireland for the fist time. In May 1169 the Normans first arrived onto the shores of Bannow Beach in County Wexford changing Ireland's future forever. The small village of Carrig on Bannow are hosting a festival called Bannow 1169.com which includes battle reenactments, readings and Norman music. Henry McKean visited the Norman stronghold and sent us this report.
