There is increasing pressure on the government to formally make face coverings mandatory in taxis as they are in shops and on public transport. Eamonn Ryan raised his concerns about the issue in July but yet still nothing has been done. The taxi industry has expressed the difficulties it's faced in keeping in drivers safe when they cannot enforce the use of face coverings in their cars.
