Black Hen Designs make a range of contemporary framed illustrations on glass-based around Irish wildlife and nature.  They also have a personalised gift range for special occasions. By printing on glass rather than paper, the image appears to be floating inside the frame casting a soft shadow making it almost 3 dimensional.  It is owned by Vida Pain and her husband Andrew. He is originally from Surrey. They moved to Vida’s native Lisacul in Roscommon in 1996 and Andrew worked in construction until 2010. He lost his job during the recession and set up Black Hen Designs. Vida spoke to Pat about their business this morning.
