When most people think of gardens, they picture a quiet plot behind a house, a few potted plants on a terrace, or a peaceful Sunday stroll in a walled botanical garden. But in the small island nation of Singapore, something far more radical took root: What if an entire country could become a garden? This wasn’t an ornamental idea. It was policy. Strategy. Even statecraft. And it began with one man: Lee Kuan Yew, the founding Prime Minister of Singapore.
