Recent Eurostat figures show Ireland is the biggest generator of plastic packaging per head in the EU.

The figures also show that packaging materials across the EU rose by 13.6 million tonnes from 2009 to 2019.

Newstalk reporter Josh Crosbie has been speaking with those who are trying to cut down on plastic and those who are cleaning it up.
