Public healthcare workers who worked on the frontline during the Covid-19 pandemic are to receive a once-off €1,000 tax free payment under a plan passed by Cabinet this morning.

Along with the bonus the government has given the go-ahead to an extra Bank Holiday on March 18th this year with it moving to St Brigid's Day from 2023.

The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar took Kieran through the detail of what's involved.
