A jury today convicted a man of murdering a 90-year-old retired farmer, who was found beaten to death in his own home in February 2017.  The panel of eight men and four women rejected 28-year-old Ross Outram’s claim that he repeatedly struck Paddy Lyons in “self defense” after the pensioner, who suffered from osteoporosis and only had the use of one arm, attacked him with a stick.

On this evenings Hard Shoulder Ivan was joined by Fianna Fáil Councillor James Tobien and Frank Greaney Newstalks Courts Correspondent to discuss the verdict and how this case affected the community.
