The European Commission has approved the Government's National Broadband Plan.

They have said that it does comply with State Aid rules.

This represents one of the final hurdles preventing the State from signing the contract with the preferred bidder being cleared.

Contracts, it seems, could now be signed within the next couple of weeks.
