The producer’s of Love Island took to social media last night, asking that viewers think before posting about any of the contestants online. The post read:

“Last night’s episode created strong reactions but some viewers’ posts were wholly unacceptable. We take these matters extremely seriously and will support cast members and their families in reporting such posts.”

But what pushes some to send nasty, abusive and generally unacceptable messages on social media not just about Love Island, but as a whole?
