John Hume, Former SDLP leader, who was awarded Nobel Peace Prize for his role in Northern Ireland has passed away aged 83.

Tributes were paid to him on the Hard Shoulder by SDLP colleague and one of his successors as party leader Mark Durcan, as well as Jonathan Powell, Tony Blair’s right hand man in Northern Ireland and one of those, like John Hume, who helped bring together the Good Friday agreement, and former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern
