The World Health Organisation reported a record increase yesterday in global coronavirus cases.

The total rose by just over 230,000 in 24 hours.  The previous WHO record for new cases was just over 228,000 on the 10th of July.

So why the sharp increase?

Dr Margaret Harris is spokesperson for the WHO, and told Ivan why this is the case.
