Some 121 children under the age of 16 were hospitalised with anorexia last year.

New figures, released to Newstalk under the Freedom of Information Act, suggest the condition affects far more girls than boys.

Broadcast journalist Sheila Naughton, herself in recovery from an eating disorder, joined Kieran on Tuesday's edition of The Hard Shoulder to give her reaction to the figures.
