It’s been more than 800 days since the Stormont Assembly collapsed, and Northern Ireland has been left somewhat stranded by the political impasse.It looked set to continue indefinitely, until the murder of Lyra McKee a week ago, and the words of Fr Martin McGill at her funeral on Wednesday.

Tanaiste Simon Coveney and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Karen Bradley met this afternoon to discuss the plans for talks.Trevor Ringland is a Member of the Northern Ireland Conservatives and Chairman of the One Small Step Campaign, as well as a former Rugby International - he joined Ivan on this evenings Hard Shoulder.
