The Social Democrats has tabled a motion today calling for the new maternity hospital to be fully publicly owned.

The opposition has called on the Government to purchase the land for the National Maternity Hospital as soon as possible, while today Micheal Martin said he won't rule out issuing a Compulsory Purchase Order for the site.

Campaigner Ailbhe Smyth joined Kieran to give her reaction.

She warned that building the National Maternity Hospital on lands connected to the Catholic Church is “not a risk we can afford to take.”
