Under Government plans announced today, a new TV licence fee will  apply to laptops, tablets and other devices that people watch programmes on.  The new bill will also see the government tender for people to collect the licence fee in a bid to crack down on non-payment.

Well, to discuss this new approach to collection and the expansion of the devices used that are liable to the charge, Shane Beatty was joined by Eddie Brennan, Sociologist and lecturer at the Technological University Dublin and Author of 'A Post-Nationalist History of Television in Ireland' and Irish Postmasters Union, General Secretary, Ned O’Hara.
