The State’s first supervised injection centre has been refused planning permission by Dublin City Council.

It was due to the impact it would have on local businesses in Dublin 8, while it’s also been said that a lack of a policing strategy for the centre was also a concern for many on the Council.

Shane Beatty was joined by two councillors to debate the issue.

Nial Ring is an Independent Councillor for the North Inner City, and also a former Lord Mayor, who is a fan of the decision, and Gary Gannon is a Councillor for Cabra-Glasnevin, who is appalled by it.
