According to a study involving 22 countries Ireland's rates of breastfeeding are among the lowest in Europe. The study found that 10.5 per cent of Irish mothers breastfeed exclusively for more than six months, 37.7 per cent for less than six months and 50.1 percent have never done it.

Jan La Leche leader and breastfeeding counselor spoke on this evenings Hard Shoulder alongside  Newstalks own Annette Freeman about we need to be supporting women in whatever way they decide to care for their babies.
