118,367 patients went without a hospital bed in 2019 – a 9% increase on 2018’s figures and the highest ever recorded. Phil Ní Sheaghdha, General Secretary of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation who’s compiled the figures talked to us earlier today and Trish the daughter of one of those people, ninety year old Ann Talty – you may remember seeing the picture online and in the papers in November – she remained on a trolley for over 48 hours in Limerick
